Solving a Complex
US-to-France Banking Challenge
US-based couple, first French property purchase · USA → France
Every major US bank refused to process the transfer
A US-based couple had found their first property in France through a referral from Agence Newton. Everything was in order: the property had been found, an offer made, the compromis signed. All they needed to do was send 450,000 € from their US accounts to the French notaire.
What followed was months of frustration. Multiple major US banks, institutions that are household names, refused to process the international transfer. The reasons varied: compliance concerns, unfamiliarity with French notaire accounts, inability to verify the recipient. In some cases the transfer was initiated and then reversed. In others, the bank simply declined without a clear explanation.
The couple were at risk of losing their property, their compromis deposit, and months of planning.
Months of hands-on troubleshooting, finding the real problem before larger funds were committed
Ibanista worked directly with the couple and their US banking representatives over three months, systematically identifying the root cause of the refusals, which turned out to be a combination of how the notaire's account was described, what supporting documentation was being submitted, and how the payment instructions were formatted for compliance screening.
Alternative payment routes were established. Named account solutions were set up that satisfied US compliance teams. Notaire instructions were reformatted to meet US bank requirements. The payments were successfully processed.
Critically, the slow pace of troubleshooting meant that the full balance was not committed until the solution was confirmed, protecting the clients from making costly mistakes with the larger portion of their funds.
I truly appreciate the support.
